geospatial information

Geospatial data have been developed to support the conservation, research, and education programs at the Station. GIS (Geographical Information Systems) layers such as vegetation, soils, hydrology, roads, fire history, and historical aerial imagery are some examples of data sets that are available. GIS data formats that can be provided are ESRI shapefiiles and coverages.

Aerial imagery is available as far back as 1943 for the property. These data have been very useful for following habitat change over time and planning conservation management strategies. Aerial imagery data can be provided in Geotiff and Erdas Imagine formats.

Other tools that are available to users are GPS (Global Positioning System) units. A Trimble Pro-XR GPS receiver as well as several handheld receivers that are available for research and teaching at the Station.
